Open to all Breyer, plastic, and artist resin horses, of all sizes. This is not a photo show. Only the model will be judged. No tack, background or set up is required. There is a separate photo show this same month.

  • Definitions
    Apprentice (novice) level is someone that has not sold, or been commissioned for, any customizing.

    Advanced (experienced) level is someone that has sold custom models, or has been commissioned for customizing. Once you are paid for a skill, then you are generally considered a professional at it.

    Advanced sculptors might have gained recognition through an extensive portfolio, commissions, or awards. They might have established a signature style or technique that sets them apart in the hobby, while novices are still working on building their portfolios and reputations.

    These guidelines are for the purpose of this event only and are not meant to define anything else within the hobby.

  • PARTICIPATION PROCESS

    Participation is very simple…
    There is no registration required. These guidelines must be followed, however. Ay photos uploaded without the required information will be deleted and the entry disqualified.

    1. UPLOAD a photo of your model BEFORE any customizing has begun. Include you name. Your studio name may also be included but y u are required to submit your name as well.

    2. When your model is completed, upload 2 additional photos of the completed model.

      There is a limit of 3 (total) photos for each entry.

    3. If you win a prize, you must be available by Messenger so that your address can be obtained in order to mail your prizes to you.

    REGISTRATION DATES
    - End time for the MHC event is April 30, 2024, midnight EST

    RULES
    - Models must be customized during the event only.

    Ugliest custom model may be cross entered with another class. This will not be chosen at random, the artist must enter this fun class.

    - Participants must provide progress photos in which the entered model can be easily identified as the original working model as followed during this process.

    - There is no need to paint any model. This is optional.

    - All scales are allowed in all classes.

    - This event is for horses only.

    - No medallions.

    - There is no limit to the number of entries per person. Manage your time carefully.

    - Each model entered must follow the same requirements to be considered, whether you enter 1 or 6 models.

    - Any class with 3 or less entries may be combined with another class or division.

    - Event rules will inevitably change over time. participants are expected to accept and adhere to new rules regardless of their personal opinions. Be mindful that the event hosts try to make decisions that are best for the event as a whole, which may not necessarily correspond to a decision that you agree with.

  • All judging is done on a multi judge points system, using 3 judges per class. Judges will be posted here as soon as commitments are made.

    Points are awarded under each judge as follows: 1st-6 points, 2nd-5 points, 3rd-4 points, 4th-3 points, 5th-2 points and 6th-1 point. After each judge has completed their placings, the points are tallied, and the class winners are awarded.

    The placing for each judge, as well as final results, will be posted in the group. Awards are given for placings 1-6 under each judge. More details on this will be posted as soon as available.

    JUDGING CRITERIA
    Although photos are used for judging, this is not a photo show in that only the model will be considered. There is no need for props or a background, but you may get a creative as you like.

    Models are judged on: Difficulty, finishing details, realism and overall impression.

    Models are marked down for: Unfinished areas.

    Some consideration, good and bad, is given to the amount of, and angles of, all photos presented for each model. It helps if all of the model can be clearly seen.

  • 1st through 6th place under each judge: Flat satin horse show ribbons.

    Each final class placing, 1st place: Custom “DreamCatcher” medallion by Fabrizio Sburlati Also, flat satin ribbon & mini trophy.

    Each final class placing, 2nd place: 3D print stablemate scale Morgan by Fabrizio Sburlati Also, flat satin ribbon & mini trophy.

    Each final class placing, 3rd place: 3D print large micro “Alchemy” sitting draft horse by Airen Chandler. Also, flat satin ribbon & mini trophy.

    Ugliest custom: flat satin ribbon and mini trophy.

    There is no overall Grand or Reserve.

  • - Customizing a model in which the original sculptor has specified may not be customized is not allowed.

    - Falsifying or manipulating photos that are presented at any point during the event. This decision is completely at the discretion of each judge. No Facebook trial is necessary.

    - Entering the event using an alias is not allowed.

    - Any participant that engages in any activity that will bring the Model Horse Customizers group, Seunta LLC, OnlyOne, Rose Denis, Sherry Carr or Fabrizio Sburlati into disrepute will be disqualified and blocked from all groups.
